Former Rainbow volleyball player Aaron Wilton begins his first season as assistant coach for the mens volleyball team. Wilton starred for Hawaii from 1994-97 under his father, head coach Mike Wilton.
Wilton will take over the second assistant position formerly occupied by Matt Johnson.
This season will be Wiltons first coaching stint at the collegiate level. His duties include assisting with practices as well as working with the passers, outside hitters, and backrow defensive players.
During Hawaiis 1996 NCAA runner-up appearance, Wilton earned second team All-America and all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors. He currently ranks eighth all-time in the UH record book in kills (1,089), kill attempts (2,184), and block assists (227), and fifth in digs (593).
Wilton graduated from Hawaii in 1997 with a degree in sociology. He is currently an therapeutic aide working with autistic children to help further their academic progress and maintain a behavioral plan.
From 1993-96, Wilton gained experience in the coaching profession as a summer volleyball camp coach. He headed the junior varsity boys volleyball team at Iolani School while also serving as assistant varsity boys coach with the Raiders.
Wilton prepped at Hilo High School on the Big Island where he earned first team all-Big Island Interscholastic Federation honors leading the Vikings to the BIIF tournament.
Aaron is single and resides in Honolulu. His hobbies include writing, going to the beach, and working out.
