Assistant Coach Tino Reyes

Tolentino "Tino" Reyes is coming
into his seventh season as an assistant to head coach Mike Wilton
and ninth with the University of Hawai'i volleyball program.
Prior to his current position with the Rainbow
men, Reyes served two years as an assistant to women's head coach
Dave Shoji with the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team.
In his current position with the men's team,
Reyes' primary responsibilities include handling the setters and
defensive plays. Under his guidance, Erik Pichel earned first
team All-American honors in 1996 and Curt Vaughan became the school's
all-time career assists leader in 1997.
Off the court, the Molokai native shares recruiting
and traveling duties with Wilton, and has traveled to national
and international tournaments on the lookout for prospective Rainbows.
In the off-season, Reyes assists with the Rainbow
men's summer camp for volleyball enthusiasts of all ages.
During his five-year tenure with the Rainbow
men, Hawai'i has amassed a 96-43 overall record and made four
trips to post-season competition. The Rainbows also made two trips
to the Final Four in 1995 and '96.
A long time associate of Wilton since the 1970's,
Reyes and Wilton first worked together at Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo
where Wilton headed the nationally ranked women's volleyball program.
Before returning to Hawai'i in the mid 1980's,
Reyes was an assistant at three schools-Cal Poly SLO, Southern
Illinois and Weber State. He has also served as head coach at
Oregon State and Chaminade.
Reyes earned his degree at Cal Poly SLO in
1984 where he played one year of collegiate volleyball.
Tino and his wife, Susan, have four children,
Jaylan Kainoa, Ryan Kapono, Jonah Nainoa and Emma.
