1996: In her first season of competition with UH after redshirting last year…used sparingly this season mainly in the backrow…has played in just 18 games in 16 matches…biggest offensive output was posting two kills in home match with Air Force…participated in eight WAC matches recording five kills.

1995: Redshirted.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 1995 graduate of Kamehameha Schools...earned four letters in volleyball and one in basketball...was the only local recruit brought in for the 1995 season...earned second-team All-OIA honors her freshman year, honorable mention All-ILH her sophomore season, first team All-ILH and second team All-State her junior year, and selected first team both All-ILH and All-State her senior season...led the Warriors to three consecutive ILH titles from 1992-94 along with two state titles in 1992 and 1994...in 1993, Kamehameha was runner-up in the state finals.

PERSONAL: Full name is Rachael Kapulani Elkington...born Sept. 3, 1977, in Honolulu...goal was to always be a Rainbow Wahine and to stay close to home...uncle is Harold Stringert who played football for UH in 1972-73 and later went on to the NFL with the San Diego Chargers...favorites are math, pizza, and the movie Heart and Soul...would like to go to graduate school after earning her bachelor's degree from UH...has not declared a major...would liked to have met Albert Einstein...has three sisters -- Annie-Leah, Arania, Tawna -- and one brother, Kolu...daughter of Deborah and John Elkington of Laie, Oahu.
