WAHINE FALL TO CARDINAL

The 14th-ranked Rainbow Wahine ended their regular seson Sunday with a 15-8, 10-15, 15-10, 15-3 loss to third-ranked Stanford before a Maples Pavilion crowd of 3,231. The Wahine (23-6) put up a fight but were unable to overcome a Cardinal attack led by All-American Kristin Folkl's 26 kills.

Unlike last year's three-game loss in the NCAA championship, Hawaii threatened Stanford (28-2) with career efforts from two of its outside hitters. Freshman Jessica Sudduth had 15 kills and a Hawaii-season high 23 digs. Kelli Cordray, starting in place of senior co-captian Therese Crawford, hammered down a career-high 19 kills. The Cardinal, however, bounced back from a Game 2 loss to beat the Wahine in four games.

Hawaii begins quarterfinal play in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday at Las Vegas against the the winner of the SMU-Utah match.
